These presidential campaign videos were created by Class Q at Flushing International High School. They represent the final project of a month-long unit on the 2008 presidential election developed and executed collaboratively by Humanities teacher Erin Dowding and Media Arts teacher Dillon Paul. For the project, students were assigned a candidate and a region of the United States, while they were responsible for choosing a relevant issue, writing a script, selecting images, video footage and music, and editing in Final Cut Pro. Re: Jean, matthew video... What I really liked about this video was the juxtaposition at the beginning between images of john mccain and the iraq war. it connected mccain with the war, and made me not want to vote for him.
What was the music accompanying the last ad? That was very good music, had a nice upbeat tone to it, which was engaging for the audience and made it also inspirational! Great job! This is a school project, right? You should be professional ad makers!
Class Q- What good work. I am so impressed that the research paid off and that these ads combined so many of your talents. I know that you were rushed for time however you rose to the challenge and made sophisticated ads.
Matthew and Jean- I loved the end shot of McCain. It was a powerful way to close the advertisement.
Hong Yi, Pakki, and Marleny- I felt that the script you wrote was powerful and persuasive. In the beginning, not all of the text was readable as it spread off the screen but the message was clear. It went well the images you chose.
Susana, Xiao, and Moheeb- Your ad had some perfectly placed images that I thought were excellently chosen. However, I wasn't sure which state it was targeted at. Florida?
Nahid, Ya Lian, & Neida- The spinning Department of Education symbol got my attention. I also thought your slogan was a good catch phrase. Which state was this targeted at?
Raulina, Sandy, & Nasim- I thought this was very persuasive. Excellent use of images with a powerful text.
Francisca, Anthony and MeiLing- I felt like you chose great images and understood how to use the clips you chose. The first time I watched it I was not sure if it was for McCain or Obama though.
Gurdeep, Karina & Chino- Good use of facts and specific detail. Splitting up Obama's speeches into smaller clips might have made that part of your work stand out more.
HI...something tell u ...
Hashim,Zongyong and Marleni
i like your ad b/c it make the compare b/w the before McCcine and after if he elect..your used the old people the express the health care issue-Florida....and music is match...
Jean- you ad wad great I thought it was interesting to see Mccain at the end making ford noise lol. And the war in Iraq image and the host like that way it was slided.
-Nahid
The issues been presented in our ads are very clear. and most of our ads draw distinct contrast between two candidates. and the music of Susana,Xiao and Moheeb video really match with the images use in the ad, but the texts display too quick.
Well I like most of the ads hehe They llok good By Jerson
Wow these were wonderful! You guys should have done work for the real election. These were much better than the ones I saw on T.V.
It was so powerful to see images of your school, the students, and your teachers along with the Obama ad. To see the halls and the faces made the educational issue feel very important. Have you showed these ads to your families?
